SHAH ALAM, Aug 8 — Datuk Ibrahim Ali today declared Perkasa will contribute to MCA’s defeat in the next general elections, if its president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek continues to insult Islam.

The Perkasa chief has been saying he is compiling a list of politicians from all parties that the Malay rights group will punish in the next general elections.

“We have a secret strategy specially for a general elections if MCA does not change,” Ibrahim told reporters here.

The independent Pasir Masir MP was responding to Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek claims Umno and Pas had been using religion to compete for Malay votes.

He also lashed out at Dr Chua for saying that Malaysia was not progressing because of Islam and for that some of the most corrupted countries are Muslim-majority nations.

“Where is the proof? Corruption is a universal problem that effects all races,” said Ibrahim.

He also pointed out the former health minister, who resigned after a hidden video recording of him having sex with a woman was leaked to the public, did not have the moral authority to make such statements.

“(He) insults Islam, hurt our feelings. What more he’s a sex video actor who is making the comments,” said Ibrahim.

He added Perkasa would not demand for an apology or retraction from Dr Chua.

“He can continue to speak but he will face the consequences in the next general elections,” the Kelantanese politician said.

Ibrahim, whose Perkasa claims to have signed up thousands of members, said Malays were the majority and they would not support MCA.

Ibrahim also accused Dr Chua of trying to attract support from Chinese voters by making such statement, pointing out that he did not have a problem with MCA but only the leadership of the party.

He said the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) Chinese component party was behaving no better that its rival in the opposition — DAP — by questioning Malays special rights under the constitution.

He accused both parties of causing disharmony by not respecting the constitution.

“It’s MCA and DAP who are standing in the way of national integration by bring up controversial issues,” said Ibrahim.

At the same time, he also called on PAS to severe ties with DAP, if they were sincere about safeguarding the interest of Malays.

He was responding a Utusan Malaysia article which quoted the president of the Islamic party Datuk Seri Hadi Awang in saying that PAS would protect Malay rights.

“It’s just a political statement by him,” said Ibrahim.

He said PAS was a party of hypocrite for working with DAP while rejecting calls for Malay unity with Umno.
